General information

What is Letraria?

Letraria is a platform that connects clients with professionals specialised in the written word (proofreaders, translators, writers, editors, layout artists, ghostwriters, editorial marketing specialists, etc.).

How does it work?

The client publishes a project and interested professionals can submit their proposals. There is also the option for the client to invite specific profiles directly to take part. Once the most suitable proposal is chosen, communication, progress tracking and payment are managed within the platform.

Does Letraria provide the services directly?

No. The services are provided by professionals registered on the platform. Letraria provides the infrastructure that connects the parties, manages projects and processes payments.

What is your business model?

Letraria charges a commission for use of the platform.

What is the commission amount?

Letraria applies a 10% commission to the client and a 10% commission to the professional, calculated on the total project amount.

Projects and hiring

What types of projects are there?

Letraria offers two types of projects: Public projects: visible to all professionals. Private projects: visible only to the professionals the client chooses to invite.

Can professionals submit proposals?

Yes, provided their profile has been previously validated by Letraria and belongs to the same professional category as the published project.

Can I hire several specialists for the same project?

Yes. Letraria has a multiple project option that allows you to select up to four different categories within the same project and invite specialists in each. This way you can cover different stages of the work in one commission. For example, you might need a proofreader, a translator, a layout artist and a cover designer.

Are the budgets shown on projects negotiable?

Yes. The project acts as a starting point and professionals can submit custom proposals according to the specifics of the commission.

How do I choose the right professional?

You can review profiles, experience, reviews and the proposals received before making a decision.

Payments and billing

How are payments made?

Payments are made through the Stripe Connect payment gateway. The client pays the total project amount in advance. This amount is held securely until the client approves the final delivery.

When is payment released to the professional?

Payment is released when the client confirms that the project has been completed. If the client does not respond within the set period after delivery, the system may consider the project approved and release payment automatically.

Can I pay outside the platform?

No. Hiring and payments must be made within Letraria.

Are staged payments or advances allowed?

At present, Letraria does not support partial payments or advances, so payment is managed in full through the platform. However, we understand that there may be specific cases with particular needs. In those situations, Letraria may consider other options on an exceptional basis.

Who is responsible for tax obligations?

Each professional is responsible for complying with the tax obligations of their country of residence.

Can I use Letraria if I live outside Spain?

Yes. You can use the platform from any country, as long as you comply with your tax regulations.

Deliveries and project tracking

How are deliverables submitted?

Deliverables are submitted directly through the platform so that the whole process can be tracked.

How can I track the progress of the project?

Clients and professionals can manage communication, progress and deliveries within Letraria's workspace.

Can I request revisions?

Yes, as long as they are within the agreement between both parties.

Profiles and validation

Can anyone offer their services?

No. Letraria only gives access to professionals with proven experience in their field. To this end, each application undergoes a thorough evaluation process.

What does it mean for a profile to be validated?

It means that Letraria has reviewed the information provided by the user to verify that it meets the minimum criteria for professionalism and specialisation.

What type of professionals can be part of Letraria?

Professionals linked to the ecosystem of the written word, as long as their services fit the nature of the platform.

Rules of use and security

Can you work outside Letraria?

No. As a general rule, any attempt to close deals or manage payments outside the platform is prohibited. However, exceptional one-off actions outside Letraria may be allowed when the platform does not yet offer a certain technical feature, such as a video call between the parties to discuss the project.

What happens if someone tries to work outside Letraria?

Letraria has an automatic anti-fraud system to detect attempts to bypass the platform, including conversations or behaviour that suggest possible external hiring. Breach of these rules will result in immediate account suspension. You can find more details in our Terms and Conditions.

Are there minimum rates on Letraria?

Letraria applies internal minimum price criteria to avoid devaluation of professional work on the platform. These criteria are set taking into account the type of service, its complexity and common market practice.

Support and help

What happens if a problem arises during the project?

Letraria makes a support system available to users to help resolve any issues that may arise between the parties.

How does Letraria protect my personal data?

Letraria complies with European data protection regulations and applies technical and organisational measures to protect the personal and professional information of all users.
